Lily, Kidney Cancer Survivor

Rock Cancer Care

At the October 2009 ministry fair, Caroline and Edmund stood in line at the Rock Cancer C.A.R.E. booth.  They were both distraught over the recent news that their precious 4 year old daughter, Lily, was diagnosed with kidney cancer.  They were seeking reassurance and prayer.  Rock Cancer C.A.R.E. immediately comforted them with hope and testimony and prayed over Lily and her family.

“As Lily faced her battle with cancer, we as parents felt helpless,” Caroline explained.  “Thankfully, volunteers from RCC came to the hospital to pray and deliver meals when we were unable to leave the hospital.  They also offered us transportation to and from the hospital, and we had a Rock Cancer C.A.R.E. support group.”

One RCC volunteer in particular, Ms. Perri, always found a way to make Lily smile: she brought Lily a new princess dress every day that she received chemotherapy.  Ms. Perri also sat with the family for support while Lily received chemo and surgery.  Ms. Perri never missed an appointment, and would often arrive early to greet the family.

In March 2010, the family’s prayers were answered when the doctors announced that they were able to “get everything”.  Lily is now cancer free and doing well!  The family feels that God is truly amazing, and recommends Rock Cancer C.A.R.E. to anyone who has a child battling cancer.

“The Rock Cancer C.A.R.E. volunteers will go out of their way to remind you to be hopeful and to never lose faith in God during this difficult time,” Caroline said.  “Throughout this horrible experience, we met so many wonderful and amazing Rock Cancer C.A.R.E. volunteers.  Additionally, we will never forget the love that Ms. Perri showed us.  She will always be close to our family’s heart.”

The family told Lily’s school and church about Rock Cancer C.A.R.E, and how the organization was able to provide them with amazing support.  The children and staff wanted to support them in return, and thus decided to collect funds for an entire semester. They are presenting a donation check to Rock Cancer C.A.R.E. on May 9th.
